Overview
This project was the result of a six-week design sprint for the City of Toronto's Civic Innovation Office, an office funded by a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies. This project focused on the City's Neighbourhood Grants Program and developing a way that "long-term impact" could be understood and measured in the grant program.
The research process included the following methods:
-
Community consultations and resident activities
-
Interviews with residents, city staff, and program partners

The project's outputs included:
-
A service design blueprint
-
A co-created definition of "long-term impact" as it relates to the Neighbourhood Grants Program
-
An improved evaluation system for measuring and monitoring long-term impact in the program
-
A balanced scorecard

About Riley
I'm a natural systems thinker who gets excited by the big-picture challenges. I have a deep curiosity of the world and a passion for learning; I'm driven by an adventurous and resilient spirit.

I've worked to address complex problems across the private, non-profit and public sectors on issues ranging from municipal government to climate action to the built environment. I'm skilled in human-centred design, service design, strategic foresight, and innovation consulting.

Most recently, I've work as a Mobilisation Designer for Australian Red Cross, in Accenture Song's Sustainability Studio as a Senior Systems and Service Designer, and have provided foresight consulting services as a freelancer.

I'm currently interested in exploring how we might design products in the circular economy that reduce barriers to adoption.

I believe human-centred and participatory design processes should be prioritized.
My Values
I challenge the status quo.
I like to get my hands dirty and dive deep on projects.
