Overview
This project was the result of a six-week design sprint for the City of Toronto's Civic Innovation Office, an office funded by a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies. This project focused on the City's Neighbourhood Grants Program and developing a way that "long-term impact" could be understood and measured in the grant program.
The research process included the following methods:
-
Community consultations and resident activities
-
Interviews with residents, city staff, and program partners

The project's outputs included:
-
A service design blueprint
-
A co-created definition of "long-term impact" as it relates to the Neighbourhood Grants Program
-
An improved evaluation system for measuring and monitoring long-term impact in the program
-
A balanced scorecard

Honest Eds: Redesigning the Future of Retail
University of Toronto | 2014
Independent Project

A third year studio project in my Architectural Studies major, this project reimagines the future of retail at Honest Eds. Inspired by Cedric Price’s “Fun Palace”, my project conceptualizes shopping as a theatrical experience, allowing vendors and customers to interact with their products in a new way.

The first floor hosts workshops and studio spaces for local artists and craftsmen. The retail level is comprised of customizable, modular retail boxes that hang from a truss system. The pods can be moved along the truss system to redesign the space in a matter of hours. The artists and craftsmen display and sell their works in the pods hanging above their studios.

The purchasing process is simplified as items are automatically scanned when placed in the customer’s bag. Customers either pay from their phone or a kiosk on the way out.
Inspired by Cedric Price's Fun Palace, my redesign of Honest Eds transforms the shopping experience.
